Hair loss and thinning hair 

 

Can you share a bit about the issue that you were experiencing and how it came about?

I have an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's, a systemic autoimmune disease that affects the entire body. Sadly, hair loss is common with autoimmune diseases. In the shower, I noticed my hair was coming out in thick strands in my hands whenever I washed it and noticed a lot of hair accumulating in the drain. I also noticed thinning hair, especially on the sides and front area of my scalp, and the crown of my scalp was starting to thin.  This was very devastating for me as my hair is my "thing" and always receive compliments on my hair. I have faced multiple health issues due to Sjogren's disease since my diagnosis in May 2020 and I was not prepared for unexpected hair loss and thinning. 

 

What was the severity of your issue?

The thinning and hair loss was severe to me as my hair strands were coming out every time I washed my hair and when I brushed my hair. The hair loss came on suddenly.

 

How much time from the start of use did you start seeing results?

I started seeing results within 30 days. 

 

What did you like most about the product?

I like the tingling feeling on my scalp when I use the shampoo and conditioner. When I rub the products into my scalp, it doesn't feel heavy or greasy and doesn't have a weird "chemical" smell or feel to it. I especially like the smell of the conditioner--smells clean, minty and refreshing. I conducted a lot of research before purchasing these products. I invested in these products because of the more natural-based formula that is endorsed by dermatologists versus chemical-based products. I did not want to use products with harsh chemicals that could cause potential side-effects. 

 

Anything you did not like?

I shared on Facebook that I don't like the bottle caps as the product spills out of the side and it's a waste of the product and makes the bottles messy. 

 

Would you recommend these products?

Yes and I have recommended DS Laboratories' products to fellow Sjogren's patients in my online support groups. I have also recommended the products to other patients with autoimmune disease who experience hair loss.  Alopecia is common with autoimmune patients. 

 

Anything you would recommend to customers in the market looking for a product to help with hair loss or other hair issues?

Don't get discouraged and do your research! Look for alternative, more natural-based products that don't use harsh chemicals which could make your hair loss worse. After a month of using the products, I noticed my hair was falling out less (less hair in the drain) and wasn't as thin on the sides and front of my scalp and crown area. By November, I noticed that I wasn't losing hair at all and my hair looked thicker. By the end of December, my hair looked and felt really healthy! I continue to use the products and my hair remains really healthy.

Final Thoughts:

I encourage women to use these products, especially women with medical conditions who experience rapid hair loss and thinning. Menopause and vitamin deficiencies can also wreak havoc on women's hair and hair loss can greatly affect a woman's self-esteem, especially if the hair los is unexpected. My hair loss made me feel really sad and depressed, and was a physical reminder of my Sjogren's disease. I am really pleased with these products and saw great results within a month, as you can tell by my photos. I started using the products in October 2020. I had my last hair appointment in December 2020 and my hair stylist said my hair was the healthiest that she had seen in in a year. My hair was in such great shape that my stylist was able to finally color it and I hadn't been able to color it for six months--woohoo!
